The School District of Lancaster board of directors approved a preliminary phased reopening plan for schools, beginning Aug. 24. The plan is not intended to be comprehensive; it outlines the general schedules, modifications and protocols based on health guidelines.

McCaskey Campus

Small Learning Communities

In January, all McCaskey freshman select courses for their sophomore year, choosing electives based on Small Learning Communities (SLCs). In their first semester at McCaskey, students learn about course options available to them and work with counselors to select their a Small Learning Community as well as first, second and third choice electives.

Arts and Humanities

The Arts & Humanities SLC is designed for students interested in art, music, theater, and /or literary publications. Students take core curriculum courses in which assignments reflect arts and humanities themes.

School of Health Sciences

This SLC allows students to study basic medical concepts and careers in the allied health fields. Through early access to work-based experiences and technical training, students leave McCaskey prepared to pursue higher education in a health field or ready for entry-level employment.

This SLC focuses on the International Baccalaureate curriculum and standards with an opportunity to earn the IB diploma.

View IB Programs

McCaskey Institute of Technology

This SLC is for students interested in future studies in the sciences, mathematics, engineering, computer science, architecture and technology. MIT is for students who are interested in evaluating and solving problems using scientific methods, logic and technology.

Media Studies and Communications

This SLC provides students with the foundation to participate in the fields of mass media and social media. Students learn and apply professional practices in filming, editing, and directing various videos, including using a full TV studio to produce the WMCC “Tornado Alert” morning show, the daily news show for the McCaskey Campus.

This SLC is for students who are highly motivated to take an active role in the community and/or desire a career in public service. They will explore the knowledge and skills necessary to be great leaders and active citizens, and be exposed to many service learning opportunities.
