This program prepares individuals for a variety of teaching and school-related professions in a public school, K-12 setting and guidance often under the supervision of professional personnel in public schools at both elementary (K-5) and secondary (6-12) levels, including ELD, SPED, and Unified Arts.
This program is designed and delivered to develop future educators with the foundations and background to be successful upon entering a four-year teacher certification program. The curriculum will focus on the basic principles of educational psychology, art of teaching, planning, and administration of educational activities, parent engagement in education, current topics and trends in education, school safety and health issues, social foundations of education, child development, and developmentally appropriate educational strategies for Grades K-12.
K-12 Education Preparation Program is a 2-year, 6-credit program that students begin in 11th grade. Completing the program enables students to be employed as a paraeducator or enter a post-secondary education program.
Level 1 Materials: All physical materials will be provided by the instructor
Level 2 Requirements: Students must be 16 years old by September 1 of Level 2.
