For 37 years, Lisa Wolf has helped students see themselves differently.
As an art teacher in the School District of Lancaster, Wolf has spent her career doing more than teaching technique, color, composition, or creative process. She has helped students find confidence in their own ideas, especially those who may not have seen themselves as artists before stepping into her classroom. This week's staff shoutout goes to her.
Her colleague’s nomination says it best:
“Lisa has been with the district for 37 years. Through this time, she has overcome sever health set backs that may have killed or certainly retired other teachers. However, Lisa has continued to show up every day giving 100%.
No matter what students are put in front of her, she seems to be able to find the art within them and pull it out! Some students who seem the most hopeless have found confidence in themselves as creative individuals through Lisa's lessons.
She has been our defacto leader in the High School Art Department. She has mentored close to 25 student teachers in her career. Our department can not thank her enough for all she has done.”
That kind of impact is difficult to measure, but it is easy to see. It lives in the student who begins to believe they are creative. It lives in the future teacher who learned from her example. It lives in the classroom where students are given room to try.
Wolf’s 37 years with the district have been marked by leadership and deep commitment to students. Through serious health setbacks, she continued to show up for her students and colleagues with care and a full heart for the work.
The School District of Lancaster is proud to recognize Lisa Wolf for her decades of service, her leadership in the arts, and the many ways she has helped students find confidence through creativity.
