This week, we are shining a spotlight on Yvonne Geter-Richards, Office Assistant at Milestones. Yvonne first joined the School District of Lancaster in 2015 as a temp and officially became part of the team in 2016. A proud McCaskey graduate from the Class of 2010, Yvonne is deeply committed to supporting the students and families in our community.
Yvonne’s role as an office assistant is a dynaomic one, where no two days are the same. She finds joy in working directly with the students, saying, “Every day is different,” and that’s one of the things she loves most about her job. Whether it’s assisting students with their needs, helping parents navigate the school system, or providing support to staff, Yvonne is always ready to lend a helping hand. Her interactions with students are filled with care and compassion, and her commitment to making their day a little bit easier is evident in everything she does.
Her positive impact goes beyond her administrative tasks. Her colleagues consistently highlight the warmth and grace she brings to the office, especially during challenging moments. As one colleague who nominated Yvonne said, “Her warm and welcoming presence each day to all students, staff, and visitors sets the tone on a daily basis. She does this even in difficult or tense moments.” It’s no surprise that Yvonne’s calming influence is so appreciated, especially in moments of stress. Her ability to diffuse tension with kindness and professionalism makes her an invaluable part of the team and ensures that everyone who walks through the door feels heard and supported.
She is an essential part of what makes the office a welcoming and effective place, and we are fortunate to have her as a member of the team.
