After a five-year hiatus, the McCaskey Red Tornado Golf Outing returned stronger than ever for its third annual event, bringing together alumni, staff, families, and community partners for a memorable day on the green at Crossgates Golf Club in Millersville. Held on Friday, June 13, 2025, this year’s four-man scramble proved to be celebration of community, tradition, and continued support for student-athletes across the School District of Lancaster.
With 22 teams registered, the outing marked a successful relaunch of what has become a cherished tradition. While there were no hole-in-one winners this year, players took part in a range of competitions, from closest to the pin to longest drive, and ended the day with a catered meal, raffle drawings, and a spirited awards ceremony. The coveted first-place title went to the Shultz Transportation team of Michael Kramer, Kevin Erb, Scott Corcoran, and Jim Steltz.
“This event isn’t just about golf, it’s about rallying behind our athletes and ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed, both on and off the field,” said Luke Thomas, Assistant Athletic Director. “Whether it’s new uniforms, equipment, or travel support, every dollar raised goes directly toward building a stronger future for McCaskey athletics.”
From early-morning registration to the final toast at dinner, the outing reflected the kind of McCaskey pride that can’t be manufactured, it’s built, nurtured, and carried forward by those who believe in our students and their potential.
Athletic Director Teasia Peña emphasized the importance of community engagement in sustaining high-quality athletic programming. “We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up not just to play golf, but to show up for our students,” said Peña. “Our goal in this first year back was to reintroduce the event and support the general needs of our athletic department. Moving forward, we hope to grow this into something even bigger, where the funds raised can go toward specific initiatives that directly impact our student-athletes.”
Plans are already underway for next year’s outing in June 2026. A revamped event website is in the works, with plans to open up future sponsorship, prize donations, and team registration opportunities once it launches.
In the meantime, the School District of Lancaster extends its thanks to all who participated, volunteered, and donated to make the 3rd Annual Red Tornado Golf Outing a success. This is about investing in the students who wear the Red Tornado proudly every season.
