For many of our students in the School District of Lancaster’s special education program, Halloween looks a little different, and that’s what makes it so special. This October, Pediatric Specialty Care once again opened its doors for their annual Trunk or Treat, a celebration created especially for children with multiple disabilities.
Every October, the team at Pediatric Specialty Care brings the magic of Halloween to life in a way that celebrates inclusion and community. Their annual Trunk or Treat event has become a tradition for our students, families, and staff alike, a reminder that every child deserves to experience the excitement of the season in a safe and welcoming environment.

This year’s celebration transformed the parking area into an interactive wonderland. Instead of traditional treats, each trunk featured sensory stations filled with textures, lights, sounds, and activities that encouraged exploration. Children could use their senses to explore the world around them.
Events like this remind us that celebration doesn’t always have to look the same to be meaningful. Pediatric Specialty Care continues to model what it means to build community with empathy and imagination, showing that Halloween can be for everyone, including our students in the program.
