SDoL staff and students featured in Excellence in Education celebration | Lancaster County STEM Alliance

The School District of Lancaster was proud to be part of the Lancaster County STEM Alliance’s inaugural Excellence in Education Celebration held Friday, November 7 at Millersville University. The event, hosted in partnership with Millersville University and The Steinman Foundation, brought together educators and community leaders from across Lancaster and Lebanon Counties to recognize outstanding teaching, mentorship, and innovation.

This year’s celebration featured a short film produced by MAKE/FILMS that showcased the inspiring work of local educators and students who are redefining what it means to teach and learn in today’s world. The video highlighted projects that connect classrooms to communities, where creativity and collaboration come together to shape meaningful learning experiences.

Staff and students from the School District of Lancaster were proud to be part of that story. Their work demonstrates what happens when education extends beyond the classroom and into the community. Whether through McCaskey’s AP African American Studies course, environmental sustainability projects, early childhood education pathways, or music and arts programs, SDoL educators continue to create learning environments that reflect the district’s core mission of equity, innovation, and excellence for every student.

Superintendent Dr. Keith Miles shared, “We are honored that our staff and students were featured among so many inspiring educators. Their stories remind us that excellence is not a destination, it’s a daily commitment to creativity, collaboration, and care. The work being done across our schools is a reflection of the values that define Lancaster County education.”

The Excellence in Education video serves as a reminder of what unites all who work in education. It celebrates the belief in possibility, the love of learning, and the power of teachers and students working together to make an impact that lasts far beyond the school year. The School District of Lancaster extends its gratitude to Dr. Lauren Miller and the Lancaster County STEM Alliance for inviting our district to contribute to this meaningful project and for shining a light on the educators who make a difference every day.
