Staff shoutout: Morgan Will, Middle School Math Interventionist, E.R. Martin School

At the School District of Lancaster, our mission comes to life through the educators who consistently show up for students, families, and one another with purpose. Morgan Will, Middle School Math Interventionist at E.R. Martin School, is a powerful example of what that commitment looks like in action.

A colleague who nominated Morgan shared that she truly embodies the mission of SDoL through both her visible work with students and the many ways she supports staff behind the scenes. Morgan goes above and beyond her job responsibilities, whether she is working one-on-one with a student to break down a challenging math assignment, leading small groups to help solidify new concepts, or collaborating closely with teachers to support student learning. She is a trusted partner in the building and an integral part of the work happening at Martin.

Morgan’s day often begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast duty in the cafeteria. During this time, she connects with third through fifth graders, building relationships before they transition to middle school, while also checking in with the middle school students she already supports. These early conversations help students feel welcomed and seen, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.

Throughout the morning, Morgan pushes into sixth, seventh, and eighth grade math classrooms. By supporting students during core instruction, she is able to reach a wide range of learners and provide real-time assistance that helps students stay engaged and confident. In the afternoon, she pulls small groups or co-teaches with classroom teachers, focusing on targeted skill development and helping students strengthen their math foundations.

Beyond instruction, Morgan is a strong collaborator and a positive force within the school community. She volunteers on the PBIS team, helping build student motivation and engagement, and she frequently contributes to staff morale through creative initiatives such as producing video tutorials or editing fun clips from faculty meetings. Her colleagues describe her as someone who uses humor to de-escalate student situations, wit to bring laughter into meetings, and thoughtful problem-solving to address challenges in student learning.

Now in her fifth year with SDoL, Morgan says her favorite part of her job is working alongside students and teachers she continues to learn from every day. She values being part of a diverse district that works hard to support its community. Morgan earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Shippensburg University and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University, choices that reflect her commitment to building strong foundations and continuously growing as an educator.

Morgan’s passion for math intervention is deeply personal. As a student, math caused her anxiety, and she once believed that struggling meant she was not good at it. That experience now fuels her work with students. She is intentional about helping learners move past their initial fear and recognize their own abilities. One of her most meaningful accomplishments is supporting a student who entered sixth grade performing at a fourth-grade math level and, through consistent work and encouragement, is now testing on grade level in seventh grade. Watching students gain confidence alongside skills is what Morgan says makes her work so rewarding.

When reflecting on her time at SDoL, Morgan shares that it is difficult to choose just one favorite memory. One that stands out is this year’s Trunk-or-Treat event at Martin, where she and a colleague dressed as the numbers six and seven. The excitement from students, the chance to reconnect with former learners, and the strong community presence made the experience especially memorable.

Outside of school, Morgan has been a vegetarian for 14 years and is the proud owner of a 100-pound Golden Retriever named Doug.

We are grateful for Morgan Will and the many ways she supports students, uplifts colleagues, and strengthens the learning community at E.R. Martin School. Her dedication and creativity make a lasting impact across the School District of Lancaster.
