Late January, we had the opportunity to spend time learning alongside the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute, and we are grateful for the experience.
School safety is an ongoing responsibility that requires collaboration and a willingness to strengthen how we support students, staff, and families. Engaging in the PennSSI experience allowed our team to step back, ask thoughtful questions, and deepen our understanding of best practices that support safe and supportive learning environments.
Across districts and communities, there is a shared focus on preparation and prevention. These conversations matter because they help ensure that safety planning is grounded in real-world experiences, clear communication, and strong relationships.
At the School District of Lancaster, we believe safety and learning go hand in hand. Every student deserves to feel secure, supported, and ready to learn each day. Experiences like this help us continue building systems that reflect that belief and respond to the needs of our community.
