McCaskey HS principal named one of Education Insider’s Top 10 School Principals of 2025

The School District of Lancaster is proud to celebrate High School Principal Justin Reese, Ed.D., who has been named one of Education Insider’s Top 10 School Principals of 2025

This national recognition honors leaders who inspire strong school communities and create conditions where students can thrive. Dr. Reese’s selection reflects the impact of his leadership at McCaskey High School and throughout our district.

Since joining SDoL, Dr. Reese has led with a steady focus on relationships and results. He is visible throughout the building each day, connecting with students in classrooms and hallways, supporting staff, and engaging families in meaningful conversation. He believes expectations and support must move together. Students are challenged academically while also knowing there are adults who are invested in their growth.

Dr. Reese’s experience as an assistant and interim principal prepared him to lead a large and dynamic high school community. He understands the systems that keep a school moving forward, and he knows that culture determines whether those systems truly work. Under his leadership, McCaskey continues to strengthen instruction, deepen student engagement, and build stronger connections with families and community partners.

Education Insider’s recognition is reserved for principals who move beyond day-to-day management and shape the overall direction of their schools. Dr. Reese consistently centers decisions on expanding opportunity and improving the experience of both students and staff.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is Dr. Reese’s humility and gratitude.

“I’m so fortunate to have had (and have) so many great people, families, and students encourage, push, and not only help, but do it all right along the way.”

His words reflect the collaborative spirit that defines his leadership. He understands that progress is shared work and that success belongs to the entire school community.

This recognition shines a national spotlight on the work happening at McCaskey High School and across the School District of Lancaster. We are grateful for Dr. Reese’s dedication and proud of the positive impact he continues to make on our students, families, and staff.
