Volunteers are part of what keeps our schools connected to the community around them. During National Public School Volunteer Week, April 20-24, the School District of Lancaster recognizes the individuals who give their time through our Valued Volunteers program. They show up in classrooms, at events, and in moments of support that help students feel more confident and more connected to their learning.
Strong family and community partnerships are essential to student success, and volunteers play a direct role in making that possible. Their presence helps create environments where students feel supported and where schools feel more open, more welcoming, and more connected to the people they serve.
“Our volunteers remind students that their community is invested in them,” said Lindsay Gregg, Manager of Community and Family Engagement. “That kind of presence builds trust, strengthens relationships, and helps students feel like they belong.”
Through the Valued Volunteers program, community members become part of that shared effort. They help strengthen relationships and expand what support can look like across our schools.
To our volunteers, thank you for showing up and making a difference in ways that matter every day.
