This course is for students in their last year of the International Baccalaureate program. The IB Spanish A course take the place of a language B course. The course is designed to prepare students for the IB Higher Level Language A exam. Successful completion of the exam allows students the opportunity to receive the IB bilingual diploma. This course is comprised of four parts – two relate to the study of language and two to the study of literature. The Language A: Language and Literature course aims to develop in students skills of textual analysis and the understanding that texts, both literary and non-literary, can be seen as autonomous yet simultaneously related to culturally determined reading practices. The entire course, including novels studied, will be in Spanish. A high level of fluency in Spanish is required.
