Join us for a tree planting and celebration event at McCaskey East!
We are excited to honor Brother Frank with our next tree planting! We need lots of help to plant, mulch and stake over 200 native trees. These trees will help make McCaskey East be an even happier place for students and our wild critter friends like birds and butterflies!
This project is supported by:
- Let’s Go 1-2-3 and the McCaskey East Tree Team
- the Mira Lloyd Dock Award which gave money to Keisha and Tarsha Scovens and Marlisa Yoder-Bontrager for tree planting
- free trees an supplies from a Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light and the Conestoga River Club thanks to private donors
- the Frank Albrecht Memorial fund through the Lancaster Education Foundation. This fund honors the late Frank Albrecht who passionately made a difference in the lives of McCaskey students, fellow teachers, and his community. We’ll have a brief celebration and light refreshments in honor of Frank before our tree planting. Learn more about his impact to SDoL and our community below.
If you’ve never planted a tree before, no problem! Tree experts will show us how to plant and tell us more about the native trees we’re putting in the ground.
Check out the map of where we’re planting. See planting Areas along Grofftown Run and McCaskey Avenue.
Pick up a FREE native tree or shrub to take home! Plus, learn more about native trees and shrubs in Lancaster.
