PCAD Design and Sewing Summer Camp for Grades 7-9

In this camp, students will learn sewing and fashion design basics including understanding sewing patterns,
modifications of sewing patterns, basic hand and machine
sewing, and embellishment skills. Each student’s
participation will be in the making of their own unique
garment. In alignment with PBIS standards, students will be
working both in groups and alone on projects receiving
regular feedback from their instructor. As creatives, we
encourage feedback that rewards positive
behavior/outcomes and while also understanding why other
behaviors/outcomes might be unwanted, inappropriate, or
negative. Our instructors are trained to model respectful
behavior in how they communicate with our students and
provide clear expectations of respectful behavior that still
embraces curiosity, creativity, and experimentation in the
classroom. With fashion and design content, safety is
important as students will be utilizing tools that can be sharp
and unsafe if mishandled. By modeling and teaching the
proper handling of equipment, we intend on reinforcing and
maintaining a safe classroom. Due to the limited capacity of
this camp, the instructor is able to work one-on-one with
students to ensure that they are understanding course
content and adapting if needed for each student.

Camp will take place from 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm
