Dear Hamilton Family,
I am recommending that, at its meeting on September 24, the school board appoint Ms. Yaliza Morales as Interim Principal at Hamilton Elementary. She will replace Mr. Phil Ludwig, who is stepping down.
Ms. Morales is a principal resident in the School District of Lancaster, currently based with Dr. Justin Reese at McCaskey High School. The principal residency program prepares aspiring school leaders to become administrators through practical leadership experiences in district schools and master’s-level coursework through Millersville University. As a resident, Ms. Morales also served at Hamilton Elementary with Mr. Ludwig, so I am sure she is a familiar face to students, families and staff.
Prior to her residency, Ms. Morales taught English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels and coached cheerleading.
Next week, Ms. Morales will begin at Hamilton in the afternoons only as Mr. Ludwig concludes his tenure. She will begin full-time on Oct. 14. We have full confidence that Ms. Morales will provide solid leadership in the upcoming school year, and I trust the Hamilton team will feel the same.
