A community that shows up: Willow Valley Communities raises over $11,000 for SDoL seniors

In education, milestones like graduation are often seen as the finish line but for our seniors, it’s just the beginning of a new chapter. At the School District of Lancaster, we are constantly reminded that behind every student success story stands a network of people and organizations who care deeply about their future.

That commitment was on full display at Willow Valley Communities’ annual Cornhole for a Cause Tournament, held recently at Chautauqua Hall. What began as a lighthearted competition grew into something much more impactful: 17 teams came together, and more than $11,000 was raised to support our graduating seniors as they take their next steps into college and trade schools.

For many students, the cost of postsecondary education isn’t limited to tuition alone. Expenses like textbooks, supplies, and technology add up quickly and for some, these costs can become barriers to pursuing their dreams. The funds raised through this tournament will directly help ease that burden, making the path forward a little smoother for our seniors.

We are grateful to the Willow Valley Communities residents and team members who put their hearts into making this event a success. Their dedication, combined with the generosity of sponsors, CCS Building Group, Charles F. Snyder Funeral Homes & Crematory, Terra Landscapes LLC, Trago Mechanical, Hursh Painting Co. Inc., Martin Appliances, Martin CFS, Prestige Color, and Weaver Commercial, showcases the kind of community partnership that truly makes a difference.

It’s inspiring to witness how our community continues to step up in meaningful ways. This event is a clear reminder that when we invest in our young people, we invest in the future of Lancaster itself.

To everyone who participated, donated, or simply showed up to cheer, thank you for standing with us and for showing our students that they are not alone on their journey.
