I want to update you on the status of construction at Lincoln Middle School and the timeline for our move into the new classrooms.
Our construction management company updated us on the status of the project in early December. During a forensic inspection, engineers discovered an issue they are recommending contractors correct prior to occupancy. We will delay our move to allow for that work. Contractors are currently determining the scope of remedial work. Until we know more, we cannot say what our revised timeline will be.
I also want to reassure you that inspections during construction are routine. It is good to find areas in need of correction now, rather than after we have moved into the new space.
I share this information with you because situations like this can generate rumors about the new building, especially on social media, that are unfounded. The safety of students and staff is our top priority. Obviously, we will ensure the building is fully inspected and certified prior to occupancy.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Like you, I look forward to celebrating the opening of a new Abraham Lincoln Middle School in the near future!
Sincerely,
Ryan R. Schlinkman
Principal
