Dear SDoL Families,
Today marks the end of a trying school year for us all. We are deeply grateful to our staff, our families and our students who came together to navigate this pandemic. This Tuesday, we are celebrating not just the McCaskey Class of 2021 but all students in the School District of Lancaster for what you accomplished this year in spite of so many challenges.
We can also celebrate the promise of brighter days ahead. As we look to the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, our intent is to open all schools for regular, full-day teaching and learning for all students in all grades. We do not intend to require face coverings or social distancing, unless mandated by health authorities. We also continue to make improvements to our Cyber Pathways Academy, a fully online option for any interested families.
Along with our health advisors, we strongly urge adults and children to be vaccinated against COVID-19, as soon as they become eligible. However, at this time we are not requiring students to have a COVID-19 vaccine to attend school.
Finally, our summer enrichment programs begin on June 28 featuring fun, hands-on learning to make sure students are ready to step up to a new grade in the fall. If you are interested, contact your child’s school for more information.
Once again, we are grateful for your flexibility, cooperation and understanding throughout this difficult year. We wish your family a safe, healthy, enriching and relaxing summer.
Sincerely,
Damaris Rau, Ed.D.
