I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to update you on the leadership of your child’s school.
Marie Byler has served as interim principal since the summer months, overseeing the school’s transition to its temporary home at the former Buchanan building and navigating some of the challenges associated with that move. Ms. Byler’s tenure as interim principal will conclude at the end of the calendar year. She is also the instructional program manager for English Language Development in our central office, and that role eventually requires her recommitment on a full-time basis.
In January, assistant principal Theresa Kirchner will assume the role of interim principal. At the same time, Kate Donnan will be elevated to interim assistant principal. Mrs. Donnan has been a fixture at Price for the past 12 years, as a teacher and most recently the school’s instructional coach. Price social worker Tracy Brunke will oversee the school’s extended day program.
We are currently engaged in an extensive search to identify a permanent leader for Price Elementary. We acknowledge that these searches take time to find strong candidates who are the right fit for our schools. We hope to have a permanent principal and leadership team in place in time for the start of the next school year.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Keith Miles Jr.
Superintendent of Schools
School District of Lancaster
