ACT 158 is a fairly new Pennsylvania law which offers alternative pathways to graduation to students who do not meet keystone requirements. The Office of Data Analytics recently conducted an analysis of students’ pathway selection to determine trends depending on student postgraduation plans, demographics, prior schools, and student attendance. The report identifies substantial differences in pathway choice between high school buildings. There were also significant correlations between student race and pathway. Certain demographic subgroups such as economically disadvantaged students, refugee students and chronically absent students were also found to have strong relationships with certain pathways. Substantial correlations were observed between pathway choice and post-graduation plan. A full analysis is available at the link below.
