This week, members of the SDoL administration and the district’s building design consultants spent several days at Smith-Wade-El observing traffic flow during drop-off and dismissal.
“Our biggest concern is dismissal for car riders,” said Matthew Przywara, the district’s chief of finance and operations. The team is working to create alternate pickup zones to ease the flow of traffic and expedite dismissal of students.
For now, the revised process (pictured) will remain in effect.
“We realize this has caused frustration and we are continuing to leverage our available resources to support the new building design in the best interest of student, staff and family safety,” Przywara said. “We continue to ask for your patience and adherence to the traffic plans as we move through the school year.”
As the weather gets colder and the time changes, the district expects additional families to shift from walking to car riding, so it hopes to expidite plans for improvements.
