Carter & MacRae Elementary School named SDoL’s seventh Community School

The School District of Lancaster is excited to announce that Carter & MacRae Elementary School has been selected as the district’s newest Community School—the seventh in our growing network of schools committed to supporting students and families beyond the classroom.

Through the Community School model, schools serve as resource hubs that provide comprehensive support, including health and wellness services, expanded learning opportunities, and strong community partnerships. This initiative is designed to remove barriers to student success and foster a more equitable learning environment.

Community Schools are an important piece of our strategic plan and falls under the area of family and community engagement, one of our five strategic focus areas. By integrating wraparound supports, we enhance student learning and reinforce the well-being of families and the surrounding neighborhood. This model has already proven to be a  force for positive change in our district, and we are excited to see its impact at Carter & MacRae.
