SDoL had the opportunity to sit down with Representative Ismail “Izzy” Smith-Wade-El to discuss the critical importance of Black history in education. Our conversation reinforced the essential role we play as educators in ensuring that all students have access to a curriculum that reflects diverse voices, experiences, and histories.
Representation matters. The stories we share in our classrooms shape how students see themselves and their place in the world. By teaching an inclusive and truthful history, we empower the next generation to build a more just and equitable future.
Thank you, Representative Smith-Wade-El, for your continued advocacy and partnership in advancing equity in education!
