Celebrating Lancaster traditions: Central Market’s Fall Harvest Breakfast and McCaskey Tag Day

Fall in Lancaster has a way of bringing people together. The air feels a little crisper, the pace a little slower, and the sense of community a little stronger. This morning, members of the School District of Lancaster joined neighbors across the city for one of the season’s most cherished local traditions, the Fall Harvest Breakfast at Lancaster Central Market.

From the first pour of coffee to the smell of breakfast cooking, Market Alley came alive with the warmth of connection. Families, friends, and visitors filled the aisles, pausing to talk with local farmers and vendors whose work sustains our community. For SDoL, it was a reminder that learning happens everywhere, in the classrooms, in the market stalls, and in the conversations that shape the heart of Lancaster.

As our community gathered downtown, McCaskey High School students were out across the city for another time-honored tradition, Tag Day. Each fall, McCaskey musicians, athletes, and student leaders take to the streets to raise funds in support of school activities and programs. It is a day that reflects school pride, service, and a belief in what our students can accomplish when they work together.

These two events, one in the heart of the city and one carried out by its young people, capture the spirit of Lancaster at its best. Neighbors supporting neighbors. Students stepping forward with purpose. Community members investing in the next generation.

Whether you shared a meal at the Market or donated to a McCaskey student today, thank you for being part of what makes Lancaster strong. Every gesture of support helps us nurture a sense of belonging and pride that carries far beyond today’s celebrations. For more photos, visit us on Facebook.
