Celebrating National School Psychology Week: November 3 – 7, 2025

This week, the School District of Lancaster joins schools across the nation in celebrating National School Psychology Week (NSPW). This annual observance shines a light on the essential work of school psychologists and their impact on student learning, mental health, and overall well-being.

Hosted annually by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), this year’s theme, “Finding Your Path,” invites students, families, and educators to reflect on how each of us can discover our strengths, set meaningful goals, and take intentional steps toward success. For school psychologists, this theme speaks directly to the heart of their work. Every day, they help students navigate challenges, develop resilience, and build confidence as they define their own paths forward.

In SDoL, our school psychologists are uniquely qualified members of our educational teams, blending expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior. Their work goes beyond assessments and evaluations. They are essential partners in promoting academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and positive school climates.

They collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, counselors, and families to identify barriers to learning and design effective strategies that support students’ growth. This might mean providing one-on-one counseling to a student managing anxiety, guiding staff through behavioral intervention plans, or connecting families with community-based mental health resources.

Our school psychologists also play a critical role in shaping district-wide practices that strengthen connections between home, school, and community. They help create safe and inclusive spaces where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. Through prevention programs, crisis response, and system-level problem solving, they help ensure that every school is equipped to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Their work aligns closely with SDoL’s vision of equitable access to learning and support for every student. As we celebrate National School Psychology Week, we are reminded that every student’s path looks different. Some may be navigating challenges outside of school, while others are discovering new passions and possibilities for their future. Through their dedication, compassion, and expertise, SDoL’s school psychologists ensure that every child has the opportunity to be seen, supported, and successful.

This week, we extend our deepest gratitude to our SDoL school psychologists for their ongoing commitment to student success. Their work reminds us that when we nurture both hearts and minds, every child has the opportunity to find their path and flourish.
