SDoL elementary and middle school students will follow a relaxed dress code for the 2022-23 school year.
On June 21, the school board approved eliminating uniform requirements for middle schools and piloting a relaxed dress code for elementary students. Elementary and middle school students will follow a relaxed dress code for the 2022-23 school year. This approach is intended to increase individuality and creativity, while easing uniform requirements for our families.
Students’ dress must follow Board Policy 221, which will be outlined in the Standards and Expectation for Students handbook that students receive each school year. Families are responsible for student compliance with the school’s dress code, and students are responsible for knowing and for complying with the dress code during school hours and school activities. It is important to note that tops must have shoulder straps at least two inches wide.
Students in any grade may continue to dress in accordance with the traditional uniform, and the district will continue to support your child’s clothing needs whenever necessary.
