At the School District of Lancaster, we see every day how teachers shape lives far beyond the walls of a classroom. They arrive early, stay late, listen closely, and believe deeply in the potential of every student they serve. Their work shows up in quiet moments of encouragement, in lessons that spark curiosity, and in relationships that help students feel seen and supported.
That is why we are proud to share that nominations are now open for Citadel Credit Union’s Heart of Learning Award, a recognition that honors educators who go above and beyond to build a better future for our students and our community.
Citadel Credit Union has long recognized that strong schools are built on strong educators. Each year, the Heart of Learning Award celebrates outstanding teachers across the Greater Philadelphia region, including Lancaster County, for their dedication and impact. We have been fortunate to see several of our own educators recognized through this program, and each time, it serves as a reminder of the incredible talent and care within our district.
This year’s award continues that tradition in a meaningful way. Winners will receive a glass heart award and be part of more than $100,000 in total prizes. Six grand prize winners will each receive $10,000, split evenly between the teacher and their school. Additional winners will receive $1,000 awards. In honor of Citadel’s 25th anniversary, three teachers with 25 or more years of experience will also receive a $2,500 prize, recognizing a career of service and commitment to students.
Behind every nomination is a story. It might be about a teacher who helped a student find confidence, supported a family during a difficult time, or made learning feel possible when it felt out of reach. These stories matter. They help shine a light on the everyday dedication that often goes unrecognized.
We encourage students, families, colleagues, and community members to take a moment to share those stories. Nominations can be submitted through a written form online, a video nomination, or by email at CitadelHeartofLearning@CitadelBanking.com. Video nominations can also be shared on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook by tagging @citadelcreditunion on TikTok or @CitadelBanking on Instagram and Facebook, and using the hashtag #CitadelHeartofLearning. However you choose to submit, what matters most is showing why your teacher stands out.
The nomination deadline is January 15, 2026.
