The Lancaster Education Foundation (LEF) hired Angela M. Trout as its new Executive Director.
Angela has more than 12 years of experience in non-profits and is a 1986 graduate of McCaskey High School and attended Lafayette Elementary and Wheatland Junior High schools.
“I am excited to be working with Angela,” said LEF Board President Christine Carrigan. “We have been searching for someone to fill this position for over a year, and with Angela, she is especially qualified to take on this role and to lead LEF.”
Trout was previously the Executive Director for the Ephrata Area Education Foundation.
“I am a proud product of the School District of Lancaster, and I feel honored to be in a position to help advance education for a district that played a huge part in developing me as the person I am today,” Angela said.
With over 12-years-experience in non-profit work, Trout served as the Communications & Events Manager at YWCA Lancaster and the Development Director for a local food bank. She was also self-employed for several years as a non-profit fundraising consultant.
She possesses extensive experience in fundraising, event planning, donor development, advocacy, communications, and community relations.
Prior to working with non-profits, Angela was a newspaper reporter and editor with several newspapers, including The Philadelphia Tribune, the oldest continuously owned African American newspaper in the country.
Trout said she is ready to take the helm of LEF and continue the important work they provide to the SDOL students, from Hooked on Books, Adopt a Classroom, Dual Enrollment, and Scholarships.
Trout lives in Akron with her husband Matthew and son.
