Feelings of School Safety and Overall Satisfaction Improve, According to F&M Parent/Guardian Survey

School District of Lancaster’s annual survey of caregivers finds an increasing level of family satisfaction. The Family Satisfaction Score, a composite score based on several metrics from the survey, surpassed the 2025-2026 goal as set in the strategic plan. This is largely due to improved perceptions of student safety; 89% of respondents believe their child is safe in school, up from 85% in the prior year (a statistically significant improvement).

Confidence in the School District of Lancaster decreased slightly, from 87.4% to 86.2%. At the same time, the percentage of families grading the overall quality of education provided by the district as either an “A” or “B” jumped from 67% to 68.8%, the highest rate since 2012. Perceptions of district communication remain essentially unchanged, with 79.7% indicating “Excellent” or “Good” for how well the district keeps them informed about things that matter.

Other highlights include:

  • 79.7% rated the district as “Excellent” or “Good” at keeping families informed—holding steady from last year.
  • 88.8% of caregivers feel welcomed in their child’s school and are satisfied with teacher relationships—the highest level since this question was introduced in 2021.
  • 74.3% report knowing staff who can connect them with community resources, a record high.
  • 88% believe lessons support their child’s social-emotional growth, up from 85%, suggesting a positive impact from the district-wide RULER curriculum rollout.
