McCaskey High School WMCC Broadcast Journalism students recently stepped inside a real newsroom, taking their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to WGAL News Channel 8 Susquehanna Valley, Pa.
During the visit, students toured the station, met with broadcast professionals, and conducted interviews with staff to better understand what broadcast journalism looks like today. Those conversations will help shape a student-produced video for the annual Broadcast NOW! competition, giving students an authentic look at the skills and creativity required in modern media.

The WMCC program is proud to participate in Broadcast NOW!, a statewide initiative sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. The program pairs high school communications teams with local media outlets to produce high-quality content that highlights both the current state and the future of the broadcasting industry.
Experiences like this allow students to learn directly from industry professionals, apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, and explore future careers in communications and media. We’re grateful to WGAL for welcoming our students and helping inspire the next generation of storytellers.
