On Saturday, May 10, the School District of Lancaster invites our community to gather in the heart of Downtown Lancaster for a special event that continues to bring us together year after year.
The 4th Annual Dr. Carol Powell 5K is a chance to honor the life, strength, and courage of a beloved educator whose impact is still felt today. We’ll meet at Penn Square at 9:30 a.m. for a morning of reflection, connection, and movement. There is no registration required and donations are optional.
Race bibs will be available the day of the event. Participants are encouraged to wear burgundy, a show of unity and remembrance, as we walk, jog, or run in memory of Dr. Powell.
Dr. Carol Powell served the School District of Lancaster with deep care and dedication. She believed in students and in the power of education to change lives. In her memory, the Dr. Carol Powell Scholarship Fund was created through the Lancaster Education Foundation. Each year, it supports a McCaskey High School senior who plans to pursue a career in education, helping them take the next step toward shaping classrooms of their own.
This 5K is open to everyone, students, staff, families, alumni, neighbors, and friends. Whether you’re taking your time or picking up the pace, your presence helps carry forward Dr. Powell’s commitment to learning and service.
Please join us on May 10 as we remember a remarkable life and support the future of education in our community. Let us know if you’re coming on Facebook!
