Dear Price Families,
I am pleased to announce that we are recommending the school board appoint Dr. D’Andrea Heggs as the permanent principal of Price Elementary School. The board will vote on our personnel recommendations Feb. 18.
Dr. Heggs is currently an assistant principal at Traice Academy Middle and High School in Tulsa Public Schools. She will begin her tenure at Price on June 6. Until then, interim principal Theresa Kirchner will continue to lead the school, and we are grateful to her for her service in this role.
A former English Language Arts teacher, Dr. Heggs has taught in public and private schools in New Jersey and Tennessee and served as a teacher leader and school administrator in North Carolina. She was the co-director of the River City Partnership, a training program for first-year teachers affiliated with the University of Memphis, where she earned a doctorate in education, leadership, and policy studies.
The search committee was impressed by her varied leadership experience, her use of data to drive decision-making, and her strong instructional focus.
