Jackson Middle School Music Teacher, Cara Weil, Receives Citadel Heart of Learning Award

The School District of Lancaster proudly announces that Cara Weil, Music Teacher at Jackson Middle School, has been recognized as a recipient of the prestigious Citadel Heart of Learning Award for her exceptional dedication and commitment to her students and the community.

The Citadel Heart of Learning Award, presented annually by Citadel Credit Union, celebrates educators across the Greater Philadelphia area for their outstanding contributions in and out of the classroom. Founded over 23 years ago in collaboration with the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), this initiative remains a cornerstone in honoring teachers who go above and beyond in shaping the lives of their students.

Weil’s recognition comes as no surprise to those who know her. Described by her peers as a teacher who exemplifies dedication both inside and outside the classroom, Weil has left an indelible mark on the Jackson Middle School community over her 22 years of service.

“People commend Cara for her experience both in the classroom, related to her subject, and outside of the classroom, relating to the students in her performance band and orchestra,” the nomination stated. “She is the type of teacher that is always willing to help her students succeed, not only in the subjects she teaches but in all aspects of their education.”

Weil’s commitment extends beyond the school walls. She ensures student representation in various local and regional festivals, providing opportunities for her students to showcase their talents on a broader stage. Additionally, her active participation in the faculty council underscores her dedication to amplifying her colleagues’ voices and fostering a supportive environment within the school.

In response to receiving the award, Cara expressed gratitude and humility, attributing her success to her faith and passion for teaching. “It’s a completely mind-blowing, humbling experience,” she shared. “But on top of it all, I give all the glory to God because He’s the one that gave me the ability to teach.”

Weil’s passion for music education shines through in her role as a teacher of general music, band, and orchestra for grades 6, 7, and 8. Her unwavering commitment to her students and the community serves as an inspiration to educators everywhere.

Congratulations, Cara, on this well-deserved honor!
