The Bright Side Opportunities Center will soon welcome guests to its 3rd Annual Sneaker Ball, a signature celebration that brings together community leaders, families, and partners to highlight the power of equity and belonging. This much-anticipated event has quickly become a cornerstone in Lancaster, blending style and purpose as it uplifts those who are making a difference.
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Diversity & Integrity Award, sponsored by the Lancaster County Community Foundation. This award honors individuals who do more than talk about change, they embody it. Each year, it is given to a leader who challenges the status quo, works to dismantle barriers, and builds systems where every person has a place.
This year, we are proud to announce that Jassinya Alvarado, Director of Educational Access & Opportunity for the School District of Lancaster, has been selected as the recipient of this distinguished recognition.
Jassinya’s work has left a lasting mark on our district and our city. As a fierce advocate for equity, she is deeply committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. She has been a champion for student voice, ensuring that young people are not just heard but are active partners in shaping their education.
Her leadership is also rooted in the community. Jassinya’s approach goes beyond the classroom, addressing the systems and structures that impact students and families in Lancaster. By centering equity and inclusion, she has helped foster programs and initiatives that break down barriers and create pathways for lasting success.
The Diversity & Integrity Award is a reflection of the values Jassinya lives every day. Her recognition at this year’s Sneaker Ball serves as a reminder of what is possible when leadership is guided by compassion, courage, and a commitment to justice.
We are honored to celebrate Jassinya’s achievements and grateful to the Bright Side Opportunities Center and the Lancaster County Community Foundation for recognizing leaders who are shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
