E.R. Martin School has received a $250 educational grant from the Lancaster County School Retirees (LCSR) to support its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. This initiative fosters a positive school culture by encouraging respect, accountability, and supportive behavior among students.
The grant application was spearheaded by Ms. Jennifer Garver, Martin’s new school psychologist. Inspired by Dr. Miles’s “Miles Message” from earlier this year, an internal email from Dr. Miles to staff, she decided to apply for the LCSR grant to provide additional resources for the PBIS program.
“This grant is a testament to the power of collaboration and the dedication of educators to improve the school experience for every student,” said Ms. Garver.
Ms. Garver learned about the LCSR grant opportunity from Dr. Miles’ “Miles Message” earlier this year and decided to apply. Her efforts paid off when LCSR’s Grant Chair, John “Doc” Bratton, announced the funding. Though not a former SDoL employee, Bratton is a longtime educator who spent his career at Conestoga Valley and remains dedicated to supporting schools in Lancaster County.
“We’re grateful for the Lancaster County School Retirees’ generosity and Ms. Garver’s initiative in securing these funds,” said Principal Mumma. “This grant will enhance our efforts to create a supportive environment where all students can thrive.”
