McCaskey Girls Wrestling team featured in PBS documentary: “The Chance to Wrestle”

The McCaskey High School Girls Wrestling Team is making waves across Pennsylvania and beyond as they are featured in a new PBS documentary titled The Chance to Wrestle.

The documentary, produced by WPSU, highlights the rapidly growing movement of girls stepping into a sport historically dominated by men. Wrestling is now the fastest-growing high school sport in the United States, with young women from all backgrounds embracing the challenge and opportunity it provides.

McCaskey’s team plays a pivotal role in the film, with several of its athletes sharing their experiences, challenges, and triumphs as they navigate this evolving landscape. The School District of Lancaster was the first in Pennsylvania to approve an all-girls wrestling team, cementing its commitment to equity and opportunity for all students.

The Chance to Wrestle explores the stories of high school girl wrestlers across Pennsylvania, showcasing their grit and resilience as they break down barriers and make their mark on the sport. The McCaskey team’s inclusion in the documentary is a testament to the district’s leadership in providing opportunities for students to succeed in all areas of life.

The documentary is now available through WPSU, offering a glimpse into the lives of these trailblazing athletes. To view the documentary, click here.
