Among those honored was Journie Rodriguez, a standout wrestler who made history as one of McCaskey’s trailblazers in women’s wrestling. Journie committed to Lock Haven University, where she plans to study early childhood education while continuing her athletic career. Her decision was deeply intentional: “I wanted to be somewhere that felt like home, and from the first moment I visited Lock Haven, I knew it was the right place,” she said. “The coaches, the team, it just felt right. My dream is to become a kindergarten teacher and eventually a wrestling coach. I want to keep giving back, whether it’s in the classroom or on the mat.”
Reflecting on her legacy, Journie said, “It’s an honor to be part of something bigger than myself. I hope the younger girls and boys look at my journey and feel inspired to chase their own dreams. My mom always told me before matches, ‘Do your best and forget the rest.’ That’s the advice I carry with me, and it’s what I want to pass down to the next generation.”

Assistant Athletic Director Luke Thomas echoed the pride felt across the athletic department. “For me, this was my first Signing Day as well, and it’s been incredible to watch these students grow into leaders over the past year,” Thomas said. “This event is a celebration of their commitment, not just to their sport, but to their academics and their community. I want them to know that they’ve made a real difference here at McCaskey. Our athletic programs don’t exist without the students, and they’ve left a lasting impact that goes far beyond wins and losses.”
One of the other signees, Alisay Ramos, shared his vision for the future with quiet determination. Alisay, who plans to study electronics and welding while continuing his football journey, spoke about his goals with a deep sense of responsibility. “I want to make it to the NFL, and from there, help my family,” he said. “It feels good to be recognized today, it’s a little nerve-wracking, but it’s a proud moment too. When I think about college, I’m focused on becoming a better person, staying close to my faith, and working hard every day.” His advice to the athletes who will follow in his footsteps? “Get your grades up, stay focused, and pray every day. Trust that you’re being guided to where you’re meant to be.”

As the banners hung high and proud, and families gathered around their students for photos and hugs, it was clear that this Signing Day was about more than college commitments. Each student-athlete’s story added a new chapter to McCaskey’s rich history, reminding everyone in attendance of the power of dedication and the strength of community support.
Signing Day is a proud tradition at McCaskey, but this year’s event, our biggest yet, reminds us why we do what we do. Our student-athletes carry the McCaskey name with pride, heart, and determination. Wherever their journeys take them next, they will always be part of the McCaskey family.
