McCaskey High School took center stage and made history this past Sunday at the 17th Annual Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards, held at the Giant Center in Hershey. In their first year ever participating in the regional competition, McCaskey’s spring musical production of The Wedding Singer emerged as one of the evening’s biggest winners earning a total of six awards, including the highly coveted Outstanding Musical of the Year!
That final number, a high-energy celebration set during a wedding reception, was also performed live by the McCaskey cast during the awards ceremony to thunderous applause!
This was a moment of validation for our students who have poured countless hours into rehearsals, memorization, and creative risk-taking. It was a celebration of what happens when young people are given the space and support to express themselves through the arts. And it was a reminder that public schools like McCaskey are capable of producing theater that rivals any professional stage when the right people believe in the work.
