Now accepting Equity Steering Committee applications | Due October 1, 2025, 4:00 pm

We are excited to invite you to apply to join the Equity Steering Committee! This committee’s purpose is to ensure that the diverse voices of our district community are heard and that the unique identities, cultures, and experiences of our students are reflected in the work we do. With a student population that is rich in diversity, it is important that we have a team that represents our community in all its facets.

Your insights and expertise are valuable to us, and your participation will help us implement the Equity Policy, leverage resources to close academic gap, increase genuine belonging, and ensure all students have what the need to be successful. In addition, we aim to educate and grow the understanding of cultural competence and capacity, increase accountability focused on equity, fairness, and justice, and more.

The School District of Lancaster is accepting Equity Steering Committee applications

To ensure strong engagement, we will have an application process for committee membership this year. Members with consistent attendance from the previous school year will be given precedence. The meetings will occur in-person monthly from 4:00-5:30 pm. This is a volunteer-based committee, therefore additional compensation will not be offered. This will help us maintain momentum and ensure that our work is driven by dedicated voices.

Our work will be organized into three subcommittees, each aligned with the district’s three commitments:

  1. Closing Achievement Gaps – This team will review the middle school social studies curriculum and make recommendations for how it can be more inclusive and better connected to current events.
  2. Strengthening a Genuine Culture of Belonging – This team will explore ways to expand our bullying awareness and prevention efforts, ensuring that all students and staff feel safe, seen, and welcomed.
  3. Ensuring Students’ Success – This team will recommend ways to
    1. Strengthen language access across the district, including communication materials, signage, and other resources and
    2. Focus on strategies to increase the diversity in our applicant pool and retain the diverse educators in our district.

The application window will open on September 17 and close of October 1. We look forward to building on the important work already underway and to the fresh ideas and collaboration each of you brings. Thank you again for your passion, time, and dedication. Together, we are shaping a stronger, more equitable future for all students, staff, and families in our community.

Thank you for being so committed to making our district a place where everyone feels valued and supported!
