Forecasts have aligned to predict a major winter storm, starting this weekend and lasting into Monday. It is likely school will be affected, though we will wait to confirm until we see the forecast become reality.
We want you to know our tentative plan.
- *IF* there is a weather-related closing on Monday, it will be a traditional snow day.
- *IF* the closing extends beyond Monday, further days will be Flexible Instructional Days (FID) as described below.
To prepare, student iPads will be sent home on January 23. Students with internet access will complete their work online. Students without internet access, and some younger students, will use paper packets, which will also be sent home Friday. (Students absent on Friday will be responsible for making up work when they return.)
On a Flexible Instructional Day:
- Learning begins at 9:00 a.m. for middle and high school and 10:00 a.m. for elementary students.
- Teachers will post lessons in Schoology (Grades 6–12) and Seesaw (Grades K–5).
- Students are expected to complete the assignments provided.
- Virtual office hours and ways to contact your child’s teacher will be shared the morning of the FID.
Turning in work, online or on paper, counts as attendance and shows your child was engaged in learning. Please be sure your student completes their work on the iPad or returns the paper packet to their teacher when school resumes.
As a reminder, your child is responsible for the safe care and handling of their iPad, including proper use and timely return of the device. To help preserve battery life, the iPad should only be turned on while your child is completing online assignments and powered off once the work is finished.
