At the School District of Lancaster, we recognize that reading is a foundation for learning. On Tuesday, March 4, Carter & MacRae Elementary celebrated Read Across America Day, bringing together students, staff, and community partners to share stories and promote literacy.
Guest readers visited classrooms throughout the day, engaging students with books that sparked curiosity and discussion. Some read familiar favorites, while others introduced new stories, all reinforcing the idea that reading is a skill that opens doors.
This event goes beyond a single day. When students hear stories read by members of their community, they see that reading is not just for school, it is for life. Books introduce new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities, shaping the way students think and learn.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read with our students. Your presence reinforces the message that literacy is a shared effort, and together, we can build a strong foundation for our students’ futures. We are grateful for our supportive school community and the partnerships that make moments like this possible. Amazing work team!
