Reynolds MS teacher named 2024 Educator of the Year by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Kappa Omega Chapter

The School District of Lancaster is proud to celebrate Tyrone ‘Ty’ Bair, Communications Arts teacher at Reynolds Middle School and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Advantage Lancaster, for being named the 2024 Educator of the Year by the Kappa Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

This esteemed honor recognizes Ty’s contributions to education and his commitment to creating opportunities for students. At Reynolds Middle School, Ty is known for his innovative teaching methods, strong leadership, and ability to inspire students to reach their full potential. Beyond the classroom, his work with Advantage Lancaster has provided vital resources, mentorship, and life-changing experiences to young people in the community.

Omega Psi Phi, a historically Black international fraternity founded in 1911 at Howard University, derives its name from the Greek phrase meaning “friendship is essential to the soul.” The Kappa Omega Chapter, established in 1923 in Harrisburg, PA, has proudly served the Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster communities for over 100 years.

The brothers of Kappa Omega commended Ty for his exemplary contributions to education and community development. As the chapter continues its mission of service, Ty’s recognition highlights the impact that educators have in shaping a better future for all.

“Ty’s passion for empowering students and creating pathways to success is truly remarkable,” said Aaron Swinton, principal of Reynolds MS. “This recognition is a testament to his extraordinary impact on our school and the broader community.”

Congratulations to Ty Bair for this well-deserved honor. We celebrate this well-deserved achievement and are proud to have Ty as an integral part of our community.
