Ross ES unveils new playground for Ross Rockets

Ross Elementary School proudly cut the ribbon on its new playground today, marking a significant milestone for the Ross Rockets community. The celebration brought together students and parents to witness the unveiling of a vibrant and modern play space designed to inspire activity and creativity.

Principal Melinda Vazquez-Markley expressed her enthusiasm during the ceremony: “I am thrilled to stand in front of our brand-new playground for all of our students to enjoy. This exciting addition will provide a safe and fun space for children of all ages to play, socialize, and stay active during their time at Ross.” She emphasized that the playground reflects the collective voice of the students who advocated for its creation, underscoring the school’s commitment to listening to and valuing student input.

The new playground is a significant upgrade, featuring state-of-the-art equipment designed to foster physical activity, creativity, and positive social interactions. The playground’s design emphasizes safety, ensuring that children can enjoy their playtime with peace of mind.

The playground project was initiated in response to passionate advocacy by the students themselves. Their voices played a crucial role in the planning and approval process. Principal Vazquez-Markley highlighted this aspect of the project, noting, “This playground is one that our students wanted and advocated for. Their voices were heard, and today’s opening is a testament to their dedication and enthusiasm.”

Acknowledging the collaborative effort that made the playground a reality, Vazquez-Markley extended her gratitude to key contributors. “I want to thank Dr. Miles, the board, and the Facilities Department for their approval and support. Without their dedication and hard work, this project would not have been possible.”

The playground’s opening was met with excitement from students, parents, and faculty alike. The new facility is expected to be a vibrant center of activity, providing countless opportunities for students to engage in play and build lasting friendships.

As Ross Elementary School embraces this new chapter, the playground stands as a symbol of community collaboration and the power of student advocacy. The Ross Rockets now have a modern, inviting space to enjoy and explore, marking a joyful milestone in the school’s journey.
