School Board Appreciation Month: Robin Goodson

January is School Board Appreciation Month, and throughout the month we are recognizing the dedicated individuals who serve on the School District of Lancaster Board of School Directors.
Today, we are proud to highlight Robin Goodson, a public servant and community advocate whose leadership is grounded in decades of service to Lancaster County and a deep commitment to education, equity, and student success.

Robin’s connection to the School District of Lancaster began as a parent. Raising six children in the district shaped her understanding of the vital role schools play in supporting families and strengthening communities. That experience continues to inform her work on the Board, where student well-being and family engagement remain central to her approach.

Professionally, Robin brings more than 30 years of experience with the County of Lancaster. After spending much of her career in the Accounting Department, she transitioned into a counseling role, fulfilling a lifelong passion for service. In May 2025, Robin earned her Master of Social Work degree from Lancaster Bible College and now works directly with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and mental health challenges, helping some of the county’s most vulnerable residents access care and support.

In addition to her county role, Robin serves as an ESSR Monitor and Consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, where she supports school districts in strengthening systems that promote equity, compliance, and student well-being.

Robin’s leadership extends across numerous nonprofit and advisory boards, including United Way of Lancaster County, PA, Girls on the Run Lancaster, YWCA Lancaster, the State Parent Advisory Council, and the PA School Boards Association. She is also actively involved with the School District of Lancaster’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and Champion for Our Youth, where she continues to advocate for inclusive practices and high-quality educational opportunities for all students.

Robin holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in accounting from Lincoln University of PA. Her combined background in finance, education, and social work allows her to approach complex challenges with both analytical insight and compassion. Recognized through multiple leadership and service awards, she remains focused on strengthening the systems that support children, families, and communities across Lancaster County.

We thank Robin Goodson for her leadership, service, and continued commitment to the students, families, and community of the School District of Lancaster.
