The School District of Lancaster board of directors has new leadership, including a director returning to her former role.
The board voted 7-2 to elect Jennifer Eaton as president, which is a one-year term. At the same time, the board elected Kareena Rios as vice president by a vote of 5-4. The board holds a reorganization meeting each December.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Kareena,” Eaton said after the meeting. “I think that we’re really lucky to work on a values-aligned board, and we have a new strategic plan and an equity opportunity review that give us our roadmap.”
In addition to those plans, Eaton said her goal is to continue to guide the district through the final phase of its master facilities plan.
Rios, now in her fifth year on the school board, previously served as vice president from 2022-2023.
“I’m super proud of the work we’ve done to this point,” she said. “We are going to continue to advocate for our students and our families, all our community members, and our staff.”
Eaton replaces Robin Goodson, who served as president for the past three years. As her term ended, Goodson said she wants her legacy to be leading a board that worked together in spite of differences.
“If we do have differences, we iron them out and move forward,” Goodson said. “Because we have a big ship to steer.”
