SDoL speech pathologist appointed as chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

The School District of Lancaster is proud to share that Lisa Butler, a Speech Pathologist at Fulton Elementary School, has been appointed as Chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. This prestigious role follows her confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate in June after a nomination for Vice Chair of the National Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Lisa Butler has dedicated her career to enhancing the field of speech-language pathology, both within our district at Fulton Elementary and across the state. Her efforts were highlighted at the National Conference of speech-language pathologists and audiologists in North Carolina in October 2023, where she presentation highlighted the progress and accomplishments within the field of speech pathology and audiology in Pennsylvania, showcasing our state’s dedication to excellence in this critical area of healthcare and education.

Lisa’s philosophy has always been centered on giving back to the community, especially to families and students. “One of my goals in my career was to give back to the community, families, and students by working as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I believe we all are striving for this goal every day by seeing our students’ growth and success,” said Ms. Butler. She further added, “I am hoping that as Chair, I will achieve this goal by having the opportunity to support our licensees, the public, and consumers in a positive direction for Pennsylvania.”

The State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology plays a crucial role in regulating the practice and licensure of professionals offering speech-language and hearing services in the Commonwealth. Butler’s leadership is expected to bring innovative ideas and strong guidance to the board.

Lisa Butler’s commitment to the field and her new role as Chair will undoubtedly contribute to advancing the standards of practice in speech-language pathology and audiology across Pennsylvania. The School District of Lancaster looks forward to supporting her in this influential position and celebrates her continued success.
