School District of Lancaster students say they are doing better in school and enjoy their work more than in past years, but they have concerns about school safety, according to the results of the district’s annual student survey.
The survey of all students in grades 3 through 12 is conducted each spring in partnership with Franklin and Marshall College’s Center for Opinion Research. This year, the district aggregated the 8,908 student responses in an interactive dashboard, where you can view responses by building or grade level and view the trend from 2021 to 2022.
This year’s survey shows some noticeable improvements. The district saw increases in the percentage of students who believe they are doing better than in previous school years. There are also positive signs for classroom engagement, with a slight increase in the percent of middle school students who “really agree” when asked if they lose track of time because schoolwork is so enjoyable.
However, the percentage of students saying they feel safe in declined slightly across grades. Efforts are underway throughout the district to ensure a positive school climate.
