SDoL to follow the CDC’s updated COVID-19 guidelines

The School District of Lancaster will continue to follow CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19 mitigation when the 2022-2023 school year begins Aug. 22.

Vaccination

SDoL highly recommends students and staff be vaccinated and obtain approved booster shots. Appointments are available through either Lancaster General Clinic or Union Community Clinics.

Face Coverings

Face coverings are now optional in all indoor and outdoor areas. All members of the SDOL community are encouraged to make the best decision for themselves, taking into consideration all factors, including COVID-19 transmission levels, the indoor setting and their own health, while respecting the decisions of others to protect themselves. If you are concerned about COVID-19, the best way to protect yourself is to wear a high-quality, well-fitting mask. The effectiveness of this type of one-way masking has been documented.

The district will continue to monitor the situation and will make adjustments to face covering guilelines if warrented.

Testing

Testing is no longer required but may be available in the school nurses office for symptomatic staff and students.

Quarantine and isolation

Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 will continue to be isolated for five (5) days from onset of symptoms.  Supervisors or school nurses should be notified of any positive COVID-19 cases allowing for appropriate actions to be taken.

Students and staff who have been exposed (household or nonhousehold members) will no longer be quarantined as long as they remain symptom free.  Face coverings will be encouraged and close contact cases should be reported to supervisor and/or school nurse.

Contact tracing

Contact tracing will no longer be conducted. The district is committed to providing students, faculty and staff a dynamic, in-person learning experience while being flexible and be ready to pivot should circumstances change.

COVID-19 Dashboard

The district’s COVID-19 dashboard will remain public so families are able to monitor cases in their child’s school and make appropriate health decisions for their circumstances.
