Members of the School District of Lancaster community are invited to weigh in as the district drafts an equity policy and determines key measures of equity to monitor in future years.
The district is hosting a series of town hall meetings in February:
February 16 @ 6:00 p.m., Washington Elementary
February 23 @ 6:00 p.m., McCaskey East
February 26 @ 10:00 a.m., Reynolds MS
February 26 @ 3:00 p.m., Lafayette Elementary
Families, students, staff and members of the community are invited to attend any meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Damaris Rau and members of the district’s equity steering committee will present on the district’s equity work to date. From there, attendees will break into smaller groups to review and discuss a draft of the district’s equity policy and key metrics for the district to track.
The equity policy, which will ultimately be adopted by the school board and govern district operations, defines equity as “the fair and just allocation of resources, opportunities and treatment of students based upon each individual student’s needs.”
Members of the community can also provide input on this work through an online opinion sharing portal, ThoughtExchange.
