
A former Harrisburg Police detective is the School District of Lancaster’s new Coordinator of Safety & Security. The school board in September appointed Mr. Christopher Krokos to the position.
“I am both honored and grateful that the School District of Lancaster has chosen me for this position,” said Chris Krokos. “I believe students, families, faculty, and staff need to feel they are safe and comfortable in order for students to thrive and be successful. I am confident that together we can all ensure this is accomplished.”
Most recently, Mr. Krokos worked for the Office of the PA State Inspector General, where he was assigned to the Bureau of Law Enforcement Oversight as an investigator focusing on fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct relating to state law enforcement agencies. He also worked with the Pennsylvania State Law Enforcement Citizen Advisory Commission where he reviewed policies and regulations and recommended improvements. He was a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work group.
Mr. Krokos worked for the Harrisburg Bureau of Police for 23 years, retiring in July 2021. During his service, Mr. Krokos earned a number of awards, including Officer of the Year, valor and bravery.
After high school graduation, he attended Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice. He also enlisted in the PA Army National Guard where he spent six years as a member of a field artillery unit. Upon graduating from college, he worked with at-risk youth in both a residential facility and within the community in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Krokos currently resides in York County with his wife and son.
